100yrs Ancestral-Land Protection Programs

Land is already within the UNESCO World Heritage Program.
HOWEVER, more frequently, we see exceptions to the protection. These sponsored land tracts are double protection against rapidly invading ‘development’… at least for 100 years.
*Yayasan means non-profit-organization
WHY are we doing this?
Land Protection Choices
Ancestral agricultural land protection; 3 choices of donations to:
- Buy the land (in the name of a Balinese people who will lease it to the non-profit for 100yrs.)
- Lease the land for increments of 20 yrs with 10 renewals and increases.
- Farming agreement to pay 2x standard price per kilo for rice, with agreement to not sell or lease to anyone else; increments of 10 yrs.
Per UNESCO words: Subak components are the forests that protect the water supply, terraced paddy landscape, rice fields connected by a system of canals, tunnels and weirs, villages, and temples of varying size and importance that mark either the source of water or its passage through the temple on its way downhill to irrigate subak land.
Intention
The over-arching intentions:
- Protect the ancestral land to keep in family & farmed.
- Lease land for 100 years (20yrs-5x) to protect it from construction & selling.
- Support eco-friendly agri techniques & higher profits & nandu process*.
- Protect the subak structure and maintain the Tri Hita Karana & Balinese culture & values by supporting Green Zone guidelines and processes.
*This is an historic farming profit-share-agreement between land owner and local farmer (⅓ : ⅓ : ⅓ – for owner : farmer : costs)

YES, of course, Bali Silent Retreat donates funds to adopt some of these farms, but more adopters are needed.
